When asked why she went
into the legal profession, Deborah said that it was because she was keen to
have a job which was varied and stimulating and involved meeting and
assisting people in many different situations. After gaining a law degree
from Reading University, Deborah qualified as a solicitor in 1984, having
undergone training with a large firm in London.
In 1990 she became a
salaried partner with a firm in the West End of London where she specialised
in civil litigation. Whilst practising in London, she conducted cases in the
High Court, County Court and the employment tribunal and had a number of her
cases reported. She also experienced some television exposure with one of
her employment cases.
She moved out of London
to Surrey for “quality of life” reasons in 2002 and joined Brooks & Partners
in 2004 where she heads the firm’s litigation and Dispute Resolution
Department. Deborah is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors’
Family Law Association). Deborah is married with two delightful daughters
who all enjoy sailing and having now done a couple of Channel crossings the
longer term goal is to cross the Atlantic ‘en famille’ and maybe even sail
round the world! Deborah’s interests include playing tennis, walking the dog
and singing (but only in a choir!) |
