Apprenticeship Offence

Employers need to be aware that from 1st April 2017 it became a criminal offence for employers to offer a course of training and describe it as an apprenticeship when it is not a statutory apprenticeship.

The aim is to protect the statutory apprenticeship scheme from misuse and to save trainees from low cost or poor quality alternatives.

Companies can be fined by the local Weights and Measures Authority.
