Minimum Wage Increases

The Government has confirmed that the National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over will increase by 4.4% to £7.83 (up from £7.50) from April 2018.

The National Minimum Wage will increase at the same time as follows:

21-24 year olds—£7.38 (from £7.05)

18-20 year olds—£5.90 (from £5.60)

16-17 year olds—£4.20 (from 4.05)

Apprentices—£3.70 (from £3.50)

The Low Pay Commission has also recommended an increase in the daily sum that employers may deduct from worker’s wages where worker’s accommodation is provided by the employer from £6.40 to £7.00 per day. It is expected that this will also be adopted by the Government to take effect in April 2018.
