Trans and Intersex Employees

ACAS have published guidance on gender non-conforming employees at work following a report commissioned from the Institute of Employment Studies (IES) by ACAS on Supporting Trans Employees in the Workplace which found that such employees were at a higher risk of unfavourable treatment at work.

The guidance recommends the introduction of clear policies on dealing with ‘non-binary’ genders at work, suggests equality and diversity training for managers  in relation to such issues and recommends appointing persons in the workplace as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) champions to raise awareness of such issues in the workplace.
