Later Life Planning - A Unique Service

Originally the provision of the service was envisaged to be via a face-to-face meeting between you the client and our Consultant, Tim Cornish. However, the existence of Covid-19 has curtailed that idea! Instead, meetings are now conducted by arrangement via telephone or “virtually” via Skype or Messenger, whichever medium you feel most comfortable with.

As to the format of the consultation that is largely up to you the client. Tim will begin by establishing a few facts about you and your family and then go on to outline the basis of an agenda to be discussed.

For example, some of the following points (in no particular order) may not be familiar to everyone, but could apply to you:

  • Setting up an Advance Decision and/or an Advance Funeral Directive.
  •
  • *  How to bequeath your “digital” as opposed to “physicalassets.
  •
  • Organ and/or Tissue Donation (the law changed in May 2020).
  •
  • *  The potential benefits of a Funeral Plan and a Funeral Bond.
  •
  • *  The benefits of Registering your Will.
  •
  • *  The two types of Lasting Powers of Attorney and their benefits.
  •
  • *  Equity Release and its potential to transform your finances.
  •
  • *  How, in your lifetime, to mitigate the Inheritance Tax your estate may be liable for.
  •
  • *  The “revolution” in the types of funeral which have evolved recently, including Natural Burial, Direct Cremation, Family-led ceremonies, Non-Religious ceremonies such as Humanist funerals, etc.
  •
  • *  Acting as an Executor or Attorney.
  •
  • *  The costs of Residential Care and who funds it.
  •
  • *  . . .  and many other topics and issues relevant to later life.
  •

Tim does not claim to be an expert in all of the legal, financial, social and welfare issues but he does have a good all-round general knowledge of most of them – sufficient enough to enable you to take appropriate actions and/or to approach relevant professionals for further advice. He has also written a book, called LifeHolder, which focuses on all aspects of later life planning and comes, free of charge, with the Later Life Planning service.

Call Tim on 01276 681217 or email him at tim.cornish@brooks-partners.co.uk to book a consultation or to find out more.
