Uma joined the family department at Brooks & Partners in February 2022 and is responsible for handling all aspects of family and matrimonial legal issues.
She has been a Family Law specialist Solicitor since 1999 dealing with a wide range of family issues including private children disputes and ancillary relief cases involving financial provision following the breakdown of a marriage, division of the matrimonial home/assets, freezing assets, cases with a foreign element, cohabitees, pre-nuptial agreements, domestic violence and child abduction.
Uma understands that dealing with any family legal action can be daunting and emotionally difficult. She will assess your issues, explore the most appropriate way of resolving them, and advise on the process involved at each stage. She also provides practical and cost-effective advice on all levels of complexity to enable you to choose the options suitable to your requirements.
Uma conducts family matters in a non-confrontational way whilst protecting your interests: this may include negotiation or commencement of Court proceedings to achieve your desired outcome. She is a member of Resolution which follows a Code of Practice that promotes a constructive approach to family issues and considers the needs of the whole family, in particular, the best interests of the children.
Uma says: "I aim to minimize conflict wherever possible taking into account practical considerations. Where necessary, I take strong and effective legal action."
