Matrimonial & Family Matters
Call us on: 01276 681217
At Brooks and Partners we have specialist Family Lawyers who deal with all aspects of family breakdown, including divorce, separation, cohabitation disputes, financial settlements and children matters. We also have expertise in international family law cases.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer publicly funded advice (or legal aid). However, we do offer an initial 30 minutes’ advice free of charge. The fees thereafter are as follows:
- Should your initial 30 minutes run to 45 minutes, the cost would be:
£75 plus VAT
- Should your initial 30 minutes run to 60 minutes, the cost would be:
£100 plus VAT
Divorce Fees: to give you a clearer idea of costs, following your free initial interview of up to 30 minutes, our costs for a straightforward undefended divorce are typically between £750 and £1,000 plus VAT, and the court fees of £550.
'Pay As You Go' Scheme:
If you do not want to instruct us to deal with your divorce in its entirety, Brooks & Partners operate a 'pay as you go' scheme. This could be if you need help completing any forms or require advice on an ad hoc basis. Call us for more information on this.
As members of Resolution (formerly The Solicitors Family Law Association) we therefore adopt a conciliatory approach, with the focus on assisting couples to reach an amicable solution to their problems in a cost effective and efficient way.
We are able to deal with complicated financial cases involving clients who have their own businesses or who have large portfolios of assets.
We regularly act for former cohabitees in matters concerning jointly owned property including where children are involved. We have particular experience in acting for surviving cohabitants where their partner may have died intestate, leaving them with no provision for the future. We have successfully helped such people in gaining large settlements.
We also have expertise in drafting and advising on separation and pre-nuptial agreements. Specifically, we offer advice on the following areas:
- Child Abduction matters
- Children Matters
- Cohabitation Agreements
- Dissolution of Civil Partnerships
- Divorce and Separation
- Domestic Violence
- Emergency Injunctions
- Financial Matters including variation of maintenance and pension sharing
- Inheritance Act claims
